National Storytelling Week
Storytelling can be found enriching lives everywhere. The sharing between teller and listener empowers, feeding the imagination from one generation to the next. (Society for Storytelling.)
Between 30 January and 6 February storytellers, reading clubs, libraries, schools and public venues around the UK take part in National Storytelling Week. This nationwide celebration shows how stories allow us to share ideas and experiences, entertain, educate and inspire people of all ages. Storytelling is popular worldwide and is an important way of preserving cultural heritage and bringing people together.
This year National Storytelling Week will be very different, however Merton Library Service will be hosting a range of activities and resources online.
Merton Heritage Service has also compiled this page of films, children's resources and online displays to celebrate stories and storytelling. We hope you find it interesting.
