Notes / History | Shown is a limestone tablet which is located in the walled garden at the Canons House in Mitcham. James Cranmer (Jnr) moved into the house during the 1750's and, together with his wife Ann, set about maintaining and improving the estate. Work included the construction of a wall enclosing a small garden to the north east of the house. This work was commemorated by a stone tablet bearing the inscription, "Built by James Cranmer Esq, Anno 1761". |
