Notes / History | Decorated steamer fire engines, crossing Upper Green, Mitcham, during the coronation celebrations for Edward VII. The corner of Killocks Lane (St Marks Road) is in the left background. Tom Ruff's Boot Store is on the right of the picture. Tom Ruff Junior was Mayor of Mitcham during the early 1960s. The brigade was made up of volunteers. The pumps were driven by steam, but still had to be pulled by horses. |
