Notes / History | A decorated float taking part in the procession celebrating the coronation of George V. The float depicts a water bottle made by a firm named Camwal & Co, who were mineral water manufacturers. During the late nineteenth century, an artesian well was discovered in Western Road, Mitcham. The natural spring water had a unique quality and taste, and was a key selling point for the Chemist's Aerated Mineral Water Association (CAMWAL), which built the 'Raven Spring Works' on the site and started production of their soft drinks and table waters. |
