Notes / History | Procession passing through Lower Green West, Mitcham, during the Coronation celebrations for George V. This float, Old King Coal, was a winning entry by Mr Cooper, a coal, corn and flour merchant with business premises near Cricket Green. Prizes ranging from five to twenty shillings were awarded to the winners of the various classes, which included tradesmens' decorated light vehicles, tradesmens' decorated heavy vehicles, and decorated pony barrows and carts. The foliage-covered wagon to the rear, was the entry from the Batchworth Road Allotment Holders. |
