Notes / History | Known as ‘The Master’ Jack Hobbs played for Surrey County Cricket Club from 1905 to 1934, and represented England in 61 Test matches. His batting statistics are eye-watering, and he is still regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. This photograph was taken on an occasion when Hobbs visited Mitcham Cricket Club, and was obtained from the Cricketers public house in Mitcham when it was demolished by property developers in 2010. |
