Notes / History This ‘waterfall’ is most likely to be at the point below Mitcham Bridge where the river divides into two. Its width and the boarded edge suggest that it may be the waterfall (now much reduced) in the smaller branch which bears off to the right and runs round Ravensbury Park. This branch originally ran through the grounds of Ravensbury House and served the bleaching grounds of what became the Ravensbury Print Works.

Ravensbury was for 300 years one of the three centres of the textile bleaching and printing industry on the banks of the Wandle at Mitcham.
