|Notes / History||During the nineteenth century the reliance on horse transport meant that many local poeple were employed in associated trades.
There were a number of smithies in the Mitcham area, shoeing horses, fashioning metal tools, making and repairing cartwheels.
The timbered building shown here was situated on
London Road, Upper Mitcham.
