Work on Mitcham Junction Bridge, started before the war and then postponed, has now been restarted. The cost of the work will be about £53,000 - more than double the original estimate. The road is being doubled from 22ft. to 44ft., and two 8ft. wide pavements are now being built.

Mitcham Junction Station was opened with the Peckham Rye to Sutton line on 1st October 1868.
