Notes / History | This taxidermist’s shop on Fair Green, was subsequently replaced by a local bank. Stuffed animals and birds were extremely popular during the Victorian period. Skilled workers would create naturalistic scenes featuring an amazing variety of creatures, often housed in glass domes, which could be displayed in the homes of wealthy clients. |
