The owner was John Tyrell who also built Morden Lodge. The three storey building measured 214x61 feet and was erected alongside the cut just north of Wandle Villa in the mid 1820’s. It had new techniques for domestic laundry using steam. Employing 150 women it had a number of problems and by 1828 Tyrell was bankrupt.

Later used for textile printing by James Nicholls, a Silk Manufacturer, who was also declared bankrupt in August 1829. After several owners it was destroyed by fire in 1848.
