Merton Heritage Discovery Day 2026.

22 August sees the return of the family-friendly Merton  Heritage Discovery Day.

Come along and join the fun!

This popular FREE showcase for our borough's diverse history has something for all ages and will take place at Morden Library and Merton Civic Centre from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

 

The 2026 event will feature:

- Guided walks of Morden Hall Park and the district's industrial heritage 

- Local history and photographic displays

- A giant model railway layout based on Raynes Park Station

- Mudlark finds and art

- Children's activities inspired by Merton's confectionery heritage

- A varied programme of bitesize local history talks

- A fascinating talk by performer and author, Bryan Murphy

- Screenings, including a brand new film about the history of Wimbledon speedway

- Stalls from over 30 different heritage, arts, sport and community organisations

- The Merton United Showcase - a chance to learn about and sign up to Merton's latest community heritage project (textile art, commemorative plaques, collection days, high street displays and multicultural heritage trails.

The Discovery Day is open to all. NO BOOKING is required for the main event. Local history talks must be pre-booked.  We will accept drop-ins on the day, subject to the available space.
