Notes / History | Having washed the cloth out in the River Wandle it was laid out to dry along the banks. After this the cloth, more than likely silk, would have been dyed and then made ready to be printed on. The material would been printed in the lengths shown here before being washed again and then hang to dye once more. Morris & Co were at Merton for around 60 years. |
