| Notes / History | The Broadway Stores, Mitcham Among the household ironmongery items sold in these stores were brooms, brushes, oil and colour, as well as groceries. The halved olive oil jars decorating the front of the shop were typical of shop signs displayed by oil and colour merchants. After the old shop had been demolished, the Fair Green market was erected on this site, then this market was cleared away in the 1980s and the site is now a road. |
