| Notes / History | Bordered by small family-run businesses with bow fronts and small-paned windows, the character and charm of the Green remained unchanged for many years. One of the shops pictured here was run by Mrs Mills, wife of a local policeman. Tom Francis remembered the fresh sweet smells flowing from her shop which sold greengrocery, herbs and an amazing variety of confectionary, including Black Jacks, Carraway Comforts, Coltsfoot Rock and Sugar Sticks. |
